England had defeated Australia by 7 wickets to lift the ICC T20 World Cup trophy at Kensington Oval on Sunday. It was a historic moment for the England Cricket as they were not able to win any ICC world cup tournament so far. Overall, it was a deserving win for England who played superbly throughout the tournament and continued their dominating game in the Finals as well. England won the toss and chose to field first. The decision to bowl first was decisive as Aussies lost the wickets in the beginning of the innings and got reduced to 8 for 3 in 2.1 overs. Sidebottom took the prized scalps of Watson(2) and Haddin(1). Warner got run out by Lumb on 2. Aussie Skipper Clark tried to the damage control and scores 27 off 35 balls. David Hussey scored 59 off 54 balls with two sixes and two fours. He along with Cameron White (30) put up a respectable total for Aussies with 147 runs in 20 overs. It was a decent bowling performance by England bowlers Sidebottom, Broad and Swann that restricted Aussies to score freely.
England came out to bat with a target of 148 runs in 20 overs to win the world Cup. However, the start was not good as they lost the wicket of Lumb in 1.5 overs at team score of 7. At this point, Kieswetter was joined by the inform Kevin Pieterson in the middle to bail out the England. They put up a good partnership and took the score to 118 runs in 13.1 overs. This partnership ensured that England would easily reach home comfortably. Kieswetter was adjudged the player of the match as he scored a brilliant 63 runs of 49 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes. Pieterson scored 47 runs off 31 balls with 4 fours and one six. Although England lost both these wickets at 121 runs in 14.1 over, they did not look into trouble with Collingwood (12) and E Morgan (15) finishes the game with in 17 overs itself.
